spotted

Another follow up to the green and leopard post! Last one today, I promise....I only wish I could keep up with blogging more regularly! JESSICA asked in the comments of that last post if I really had a green and leopard coat like the one pictured and I had to hunt it down in my winter closet to share. I remembered it wrong (confused it with a tan one I have that has leopard down the sides similar to the one in the 40s post)....this one is from the 60s, and has a matching green wool sheath dress with leopard collar beneath AND a leopard trimmed hat!

As you can see....I'm a sucker for a leopard hat (and coat, and collar, and muff....).

speaking of green.....

Just happened across this picture of a gorgeous gal from the 1940s (on the *amazing* blog, GLAMOUR DAZE) rocking the green and leopard! Then I remembered I have a short version of this coat.....now I just need those temps to drop!!

going green

Stumbled across a lovely blog the other day via a friend on FaceBook where a conversation was underway about pairing red with leopard print. I casually mentioned in the comments that I like wearing emerald green with leopard print, which sparked a creative post at BON BON ROSE GIRLS featuring leopard and emerald modern fashions.... with a shout out (and link!) to me! Go on over and read it, and be sure to follow them on Twitter or FaceBook and enter to win a gorgeous green leather handbag from MIMI BOUTIQUE>

Meanwhile, since vintage leopard print will always be my favorite kind of leopard print, consider these Mad Men-esque 1960's fine wale corduroy cigarette pants in leopard...paired with a tight green emerald sweater, or a green tank and cropped black jacket....a thin long black tee and forest green suede platform heels....the possibilities are endless! Click pic to go to Dorothea's....

Some killer green suede heels from GOJANE.COM, a steal at $25.70....

Or go win that green handbag! There are loads of ways to wear green with leopard!

Not Your Average Vintage Leopard Print Dress!

This may be the best dress I've ever had OR seen! A lovely woman came in the shop today and brought a whole load of clothing that had belonged to her Mother, Mother-in-law and Aunt. There are some pretty great dresses but this one takes the grand price for cat-related novelty prints! Black and white leopard kittens playing with colorful balls on soft ivory crepe rayon, from the late 30s. Angular peaked hip pockets and flirty bows and cap sleeves on bodice. Quite possibly inspired by "Baby" from the classic film "Bringing Up Baby".

I'll have it on the site Monday (pic click to the 40s page so get ready to grab it!

eVintage Society BLOG TAG WEDNESDAY ~Animalize!~

I've been tagged by SYDNEY'S VINTAGE FASHION RUNWAY for the eVINTAGE SOCIETY Wednesday Blog Tag.

Animals…..we love ‘em, we love to wear ‘em! Prints, that is (fur is another and much more sensitive topic for another blog). Show us your animal prints!

1) Show us your favorite piece of animal print apparel in your inventory!

I loooove this 60s leopard print short sleeve sheath dress and safari inspired jacket set by Abe Schrader....

2)What is your favorite animal print to wear & why?
I love the look of zebra print in the home but not on me. For me, leopard works both in the size/shape of the print and the warmer color tones.

3)Favorite to sell?
Again, zebra, especially if its pre-70s...so hard to find!

4)Favorite pet and best pet story?

I prefer having cats to dogs for the simple fact that I do not have a yard and no time to walk a dog! I have 2 cats now, Buhaki and Basil. I'd feel guilty naming a favorite (as if they read). I had a fantastic cat named Terabithis from highschool til just a few years ago, she was a tux & a polydactyl (mitten kitten), and chock full of bitchy attitude. My puppy-cat, Hobbes, a big loveable tabby, passed away a coupld years ago also....my "best" pet story would be the time his brother/litter mate, Cosmo, woke me up one morning meowing loudly next to the bed and literally led me to an open window the screen had fallen out of. I knew immediately Hobbes would have been in that window and likely knocked it out, so ran down three flights of stairs (yep, third floor apartment), expecting the worst. He was scared but totally fine!

5)Scared of animals? Which one scares you the most & why?
Bats. Bats. BATS.

6) Favorite animal to visit at the zoo or to collect images of?
Gibbons. They make cool noises.
