in the swim

Today I came across this article online with loads of links and images of vintage swimsuits, on the MODERN ART NOTES website, by Tyler Green. Go go, check out all the links and eye candy! I don't deal in a lot of vintage swimwear (though I'd love to)....it's not terribly easy to find in Iowa! But my first thought when I saw the mention of the "Scandal" 60s swimsuit by Cole of California was of one of my favorite images of Little Edie Bouvier Beale wearing hers (in her own quirky style!)....

.

And then of course, of my favorite swimsuit I've ever had the pleasure of selling (scandalous in it's own way!).....this 1950s Catalina swimsuit with print of sketchwork birds in rather compromising positions, which truly deserved to be in a museum itself!....

Some more past favorites.....50s bubble suit with ballerinas....

1940s palm tree suit...

Amazing deep sea diver print Kamehameha swimsuit from the 50s.....

Rose Marie Reid striped....

Some of the few I have available now....

30s gold satin one piece....

50s leaf print pin up...

Rare 60s paper bikini in orginal packaging....

Got a big house call coming up this weekend, crossing fingers for some good swimwear!

eVintage Blog Tag Wednesday on Thursday! the Halter....

I've been tagged by SYDNEY'S VINTAGE FASHION RUNWAY for the eVINTAGE SOCIETY Wednesday Blog Tag.

Temperatures are rising and its time to show some skin! The halter neckline is a great way to leave a little to the imagination while exposing enough to stay cool and stylish. Lets talk halters!

1) Show us your favorite halter in your inventory....

I don't have a halter dress!! How crazy is that. But I DO have this Giorgio Sant' Angelo swimsuit from the 70s that comes with matching jacket and pants for a total beach ensemble....

2)Marilyn rocked the halter bodice back in the 50s, but it came back big in the 70s…..which is your favorite era for the halter?

I'm kinda leaning towards the 70s lately! In sexy jersey knits.

3)Bare backs are vulnerable, what’s your suggestion for protecting skin from the sun?

Um, I don't go into the sun. So thats my best suggestion! Stay in.

4)Halter as top or dress, whats your preference?

Dress. The tops ride up on me.

5)A bra can be a challenge…..best suggestion for support?

Tape!

An estimated 37,680 cases of pancreatic cancer will be diagnosed this year, and the estimated death toll is a staggering 34,290. The outlook for someone diagnosed today with the disease is bleak. I've recently lost my father to the disease after a brave 6 month battle, so cancer of the pancreas has hit up close and personal with me. It is a mean disease that does not discriminate. The recognized color for support of those fighting the disease is purple, and this stunning Alix of Miami dress is just the kind my Dad would have liked to see on a dame.
